Macau Designers Association 30th Anniversary Poster Exhibition

The opening ceremony of “Macau Designers Association 30th Anniversary Poster Exhibition” was successfully held on the 12th of December, 2016 at the Macau Old Court building. The activity is organized by the Macau Designers Association (MDA) to celebrate its establishment for 30 years. 53 designers from 13 countries and districts were invited to create the posters under the theme “30″ for this exhibition. An anniversary party was held after the exhibition opening.

The opening ceremony was officiated by the President for Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau, Mr. Ung Vai Meng; Director of Department of Culture and Education of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao S.A.R, Mr. Shao Bin; Vice-president of the Administrative Council of the Macao Foundation, Ms. Zhong Yi; Honorary Chairman of Macau Designers Association, Mr Tong Chi Kin; Member of the Legislative Assembly of Macau, Mr  Choi Sai Cheong; Member of the Administrative Committee of Cultural Industries Fund, Ms. Mok Ian Ian; Founding Chairman of Macau Designers Association, Mr.  António Conceição Júnior; Managing Director of Polytrade Paper, Mr. Chan Chi Kai; Chairman of Macau Designers Association, James Chu.

People from the cultural sector, other industries and senior members of MDA and the participating designers of the exhibition attended the opening ceremony, including Chairman of Hong Kong Design Centre, Erik Yim; Director of Publicity and Production Office of Macau Government Tourist Office, Chan Un Un; President of the Macao Artist Association, Lai Leng; Vice President of Cultural Development Promotion Association of Macau, Lok Hei; Chairman of the Association of Advertising Agents of Macau, Wong Yee Mun; Vice President of Corporate Communications & Community Affairs of Sands China Ltd., Ms. Winnie Wong; Director of Development of Orbis Macau Vivian Lou.

Macau Designers Association serves as the channel to connect designers and the community in the past 3 decades. It endeavors to facilitate the development of local design through various efforts. MDA tries to enhance public awareness of local design value by organizing a number of design activities, including courses, competitions, exhibitions and exchange events, in order to increase the cooperation opportunities and seek for long-term and substantial development for local designers.

James Chu, Chairman of Macau Designers Association, told the public in his opening speech that MDA has witnessed the great changes of Macau Design and its going toward the world stage. MDA hopes to go further in future and implement more projects and events to support the local designers. Setting up the Macau Design Centre is also a response to the demand of the society. He convinced that the younger generations will definitely endeavor to elevate the quality of design in Macao. And he also extended his gratitude to the former chairmen of the association, sponsors, co-organizers and those who are always supporting the association.

The Macau Designers Association 30th Anniversary Poster Exhibition will last for two weeks from 12th to 28th of December,2016 at the Old Court Building (459 Nam Ma Road, Macau). The exhibition showcases 51 sets of poster, the video of the awards from the 10 editions of Macau Design Biennial and the publications that shows the development of Macau design.

Opening Hours from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm (Closed on Mondays, open on public holidays), free admission.
