Macau Design Centre releases the result of studio residency selection
Macau Design Centre (MDC), which located at the Areia Preta, is the first integrated service platform for promoting Macau design. MDC has 17 independent studios which aim to provide comfortable working environment and all-round services at a lower-than-market price to local design companies so as to spare them the burden of high rent and maintenance cost. They can also thrive on the resources of the Centre.
MDC opened call for studio residency application from April 2 to 25. This is the first time to accept application since it’s opening in 2014. The response was overwhelming and there is a huge increase compare with the ratio of vacancy and applicant two years ago. This time 13 formal applications were received. The result shows that MDC has earned recognition for its outstanding work performance in the past years. The design categories of the applicants are diverse, including graphic design, multimedia production, product design, 2D and 3D animation and special effects, photography, interior design, fashion design, video production and craft design.
Previously MDC and Fundo Das Indústrias Cultura is constituted a selection panel to review the application by analyzing their portfolio, business and proposal. The judge had a tough time to do the selection as many of the applicants are so exceptional while only one studio is available. After a serious discussion, the judge unanimously selected CLIFFS STUDIO CO. LTD. Based on the policy, the maximum period of residency could be last for three years and need to be renewed by year according to business achievement and development.
